William Biehl, 77, former longtime president of Biehl & Biehl Inc., in Bensenville, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 of lung cancer in his Itasca home. Bill Biehl joined his father in the collection industry in 1945. “His commitment and devotion to our employees and customers was an inspiration to those who loved him” says his son, Bill. He was a graduate of the first senior class of Chicago Vocational High School in 1944. He enlisted in the Army in 1945 and was raised to the rank of sergeant as a parachute instructor. After serving in the military he attended and graduated from DePaul University in 1951 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Commerce. He also studied aerodynamics as he had a love for flying. Airplane trips to Springfield were some of the many fond memories, remembers his son. In 1964 he became the sole owner of the family business. He was very active in supporting and promoting the collection industry through trade associations. Under his leadership the company established a reputation of integrity. Mr. Biehl was a contributor to many needy organizations and served on the Board of Directors of Benedictine University. As an avid golfer throughout his professional and retirement years, he had enjoyed traveling the world with his many friends. As a gentle and caring man, he had a quiet elegance to him, say many of his friends. Survivors include his wife, Norine, nee Bargones; children, Paul (Debbie) Biehl, Maureen (Steve) Bluth and William (Mary) Biehl; stepfather to Cindy (John) Schoeps, Valerie (John) Ferraresi, Deorah Stewart, Bill, Roger, Robert and Russell May; grandfather to Elizabeth, Kenneth, Jonathan, Amy, Mara, Justin, Natalie and Brian; stepgrandfather of many; soon-to-be great-grandfather of one; dear brother of Marion Waldron; and friend to many. Visitation will be held 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 at The Oaks Funeral Home, 1201 E. Irving Park Road, Itasca. A service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at St. Peter the Apostle Church, Itasca.
