My profound appreciation–and admiration–to Howard Reich and the Chicago Tribune for the heart-wrenching account of Reich’s mother’s painful experience during the Holocaust (“Prisoner of her past; Hunted by the Nazis 60 years ago, Sonia is running again,” Page 1 and special section, Nov. 30).
While there is yet time, those who survived should bear witness to the catastrophic horrors, brutality and agony beyond belief they endured in a world gone mad.
Especially appalling were the enthusiasm of the soldiers doing the shooting and the applause of the villagers who heard the shots.
