Patricia Banach and her Wauconda neighbors agree they don’t like goose droppings. What they disagree on is how best to stop the problem.

The homeowners association in the Lakeview Villa subdivision hopes everyone will agree to a high frequency sound system that can’t be heard by humans.

Last spring, the association put a loudspeaker 15 feet up a pole.

The device made an intermittent sound intended to drive the geese away, but the noise also drove the Banach family to complain to the police.

“It was this horrible sound, a goose in distress,” said Banach. “It was just awful. You couldn’t sleep. You couldn’t do anything.”
