When the folks at Wagner Farm in Glenview decided to design a calendar, they turned for inspiration to what they deal with every day–dairy cows, tractors, corn fields.

The result is a 2004 calendar with images that its makers hope will keep the educational farm on people’s minds all year.

The calendar was the idea of Gloria Buzard, a member of the Friends of Wagner Farm board, which oversees the operation at Lake Avenue and Wagner Road. It’s envisioned as part of an effort to acquaint more people with the 18-acre farm, owned by the Glenview Park District.

“By doing things like this, people will get to know the farm,” said Todd Price, the farm’s director.

Besides pictures of the farm’s restored 1947 tractor and 67-year-old barn, the calendar also includes agricultural history, the official Wagner Farm meatloaf recipe, and important farm dates, such as the start of pumpkin sales.

The calendars cost $10 and are on sale at the farm and in area shops.
