Nellie Spicer is very aggressive on the volleyball court, and apparently that carried over into recruiting. The Barrington All-State junior committed Tuesday to UCLA, bypassing the recruiting game. “It just felt right, I guess,” said Spicer, who visited six California schools this month. “I loved everything about it. I thought, `Why wait?’ I wasn’t going to change my mind. The campus and the facilities, the coaches and the girls on the team were the reasons.” Spicer unofficially visited UCLA, Cal-Berkley, Stanford, Cal-Santa Barbara and Pepperdine after visiting Penn State, Illinois and Michigan. “In a way, yes, I wanted to get it over, but it is a big part of my life and I will be spending four years there,” she said.
