I am a senior citizen who has been an avid fan of Chicago sports teams all my life. To me the least tolerable and most irritating actions these teams can do are imprudent and ridiculously unwise personnel decisions.

I am afraid the Bears might make a monumental mistake. This would be the termination of coach Dick Jauron with one year remaining on his contract. They should give him a long extension.

Ordinarily a dedicated Bears booster is automatically a friend of mine. However, I regard any Bears fan who wants coach Jauron released to be an unthinking pinhead. There is his excellent playing record in high school, college and the NFL. He also has many years of valuable experience as an NFL assistant coach. He is very well received and popular with his players and also has received extensive and extraordinary praise by other NFL coaches and executives. He speaks very articulately with high intelligence on football and other related issues.

I am confident Bears management will most wisely retain Dick Jauron. He is too much a high quality person and coach to have another team acquire this 2001 Coach of The Year to the regrettable detriment of the Bears.
