On its major-label debut, local favorites Kill Hannah revisit some of rock’s timeless themes: dying young, broken hearts, addiction and alienation. Vocalist Mat Devine’s androgynous appearance extends to cushion-y singing that, like the quintet’s fizzy new-wave and power-chord collisions, evokes Garbage, early Blur and the Cars. Slickly produced, the album contains newly penned originals and refashioned renditions of songs from the band’s previous indie releases.
