Audley Eugene Loughran, M.D., passed away at his home in Oak Park on Dec. 23, 2003 at age 70. Dr. Loughran was a great source of inspiration, raised a wonderful family, and made the world a better place. Raised in Greensburg, PA, he moved to Chicago as a young adult to study medicine. He served in the Army from 1967-69, treating wounded servicemen from Vietnam. He then started his practice as an orthopedic surgeon, and cared for residents of the Chicago community for the next 30 years. He was survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Alice; two brothers, Edward and Donald; six children, Timothy (Robyn), Mary Margaret, Patrick (Meg), Alice, Sarah (Steven) Stanos and Nicole; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29 at Peterson Funeral Home, 6938 W. North Ave., Chicago, 773-637-4441. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Giles Church in Oak Park. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, 773-665-3441.
