Clyde E. Compton, 93 of Shelbyville, formerly of Melrose Park, died at 10 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2003 in Burgess Square Health Care Center in Westmont, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville with Father Don Wolford officiating. Visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Shelbyville. Mr. Compton was born on September 26, 1910 in Charles City, Iowa, the son of James H. and Reua J. Timblin Compton. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville. He retired from International Harvester in Melrose Park in 1974. He married Evelyn A. Nelis on November 29, 1930 in Chicago. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1996. Surviving are sons, James William Compton and wife Kathleen of Palm Bay, Florida and Glenn Martin Compton and wife Nancy of Melrose Park, Illinois; daughter Joyce Ann Foley of Darien, Illinois; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Donald Foley, grandson, David J. Foley and brother Raymond Compton.
