I am the production manager for a Chicago-based non-for-profit theater company called HealthWorks Theatre, which does prevention theater in schools.

On Nov. 12 we were scheduled to perform an 8:45 a.m. show at Geneva Middle School.

At 3 a.m. that day, one of our actresses contacted me to inform me that her apartment on North Malden was burning down.

Despite this crisis in her life, she committed to still doing her scheduled show with her 6 a.m. call time because she believed her work for these students was important.

After the show, having heard her story, the Geneva Middle School PTO informed us that they were committing to raising funds for those who lost their homes in that same fire.

This was a thank you to this actress for her dedication to education.

This was a heartwarming reminder of people’s good will.
