Eleanor Root, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Roseland and Olympia Fields, passed at 3:55 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 at Heartland Health Care Center, Henry, IL. Eleanor was born March 4, 1910 in Chicago, IL to Michael Muszynski and Catherine Bas. She married Herman Root on Sept. 29, 1934 in Chicago. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Root; one brother; and two sisters. Survivors include her son, Randy (Nancy) Root of Rural Metamora; and daughter, Joan (Bob) Erickson of Rural Washburn; three grandsons; and a brother, Eugene Muszynski of La Guana Beach, CA. Eleanor worked as a secretary for Mutal Benefit and Health Assoc. and as a bookkeeper for Pon & Co., Real Estate in Roseland, IL before her marriage to Mr. Root. Former member of St. John’s Catholic Church of Roseville, former president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Roseland and Chicago-South Chamber of Commerce, member of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Assoc. and Founding Patron of the Sun Foundation for Advancement in the Environmental Sciences and Arts. Services 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at Skyline Memorial Park, Rt. 50 Monee, IL (grave side only) Father Daniel O’Sulivan officiating. Visitation 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2004 at Lenz Memorial Home, 823 Fifth St., Lacon, IL. Burial at Skyline Memorial Park, Rt.50, Monee, IL.
