The U.S. population will be 292,287,454 on Jan. 1, up 1 percent over the year, the Census Bureau said Tuesday. As of January, the U.S. will record a birth every 8 seconds, a death every 13 seconds and add an immigrant every 25 seconds. The result will be an increase of one person every 12 seconds.
