Elizabeth R. “Betty” Smith, age 65, of Lake Village, IN, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2003, she is survived by one daughter, Cynthia (Mark) Gust of Lake Village, IN, one son, Andrew Smith of Lake Village, IN; three grandchildren, Joseph (Charity), Marc and Kenneth Gust; four brothers, Jack (Dorothea) Fewkes of Chicago Heights, IL, William (Barbara) Fewkes of Chicago, Richard (Celeste) Fewkes of Valparaiso, IN, David (Rose) Fewkes of WI; numerous nieces and nephews; she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Smith in 1973. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, IN. Father John Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth, IL. Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Elizabeth was retired from L.C.A.R. in Merrillville, IN. She was a member of St. Augusta Catholic Church in Lake Village, IN.
