Thank you for “Hunger growing in suburbs; Food bank lines outstrip city’s” (Metro, Dec. 26).
It’s very important for newspapers to cover all aspects of what is happening in our economy, and you have some truly startling numbers in your story.
More people are coming to a food pantry in affluent Hinsdale now than at any time in the last 25 years?
That speaks volumes about the breadth of economic distress we face, and the uneven benefits of the “economic recovery” so often touted in the media.
This important story was all too short and buried deep inside the paper.
I hope that in the future, you will give more emphasis to local stories about who is going hungry–and why–throughout the Chicagoland area.
