In “Living in the fast lane . . . oops, flashing lights” (Commentary, Dec. 26), Alice Brand suggests that she was overcharged $20 for driving 21 miles per hour over the speed limit when, in her opinion, she may have been driving only 19 or 20 m.p.h. over the limit. She completely misses the point. Whether she was 19, 20 or 21 over, she was driving at about 60 in a 40 zone–a reckless endangerment of pedestrians and other drivers. Perhaps a look at statistics of people killed in accidents due to speeding would silence her whining.
