Robert J. Smith, age 57, passed away very peacefully on Dec. 31, 2003 at his family home on Silver Lake in Wisconsin. Bob graduated from Indiana State University where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He taught English and Literature for 30 years for the Dade County, Florida Public School System. After retiring, he realized his life-long dream to work in interior design with Charles Jacobson, Inc. at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles, CA. Bob had a very deep sense of design and recognized the beauty and specialness of the creative process. Bob is survived by his sister, Susan (Kurt) Gehlbach of Peoria, IL; three nephews, Jeffrey, Mark and Scott Mendenhall; and a host of loving and caring friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. and Elmese, nee Hembree, Smith. At his request, there will be no services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorial Remembrances to Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Paririe, WI 53158 would be appreciated by the family. The Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave., Kenosha, WI 53144 is in charge of arrangements.
