An accomplishment: fewer than 600 people were murdered in Chicago during 2003! The 599 people whose lives were wasted however, are still more than the 481 American service men and women who died in Iraq during the same year.
Even though the Iraq casualties happened during a shorter period of time, the killed-per-day rate in Chicago was still higher than in Iraq.
A major difference between the two numbers is that while the squandering of human life in Chicago was a result of murder in the course of robbery, rape, drugs, hatred, gang violence, etc., the sacrifices of our military came at the cost of ensuring our freedom and security. The liberation of an entire country was also one of the results of the president’s mission.
What conclusion would our Democratic presidential candidates come up with using this information? Pull our people out of Chicago? Defeat the mayor at the next election?
I’m looking forward to learning why American life in the hands of some leadership is less significant than others.
