Who knew Russell Crowe was such a bookworm?
Well, maybe he’s not, but the “Gladiator” star is said to be the front-runner to star in the big-screen version of “The Da Vinci Code.” Movie Web site Cinema Eye says director Ron Howard is courting Crowe and “Pearl Harbor” star Kate Beckinsale to play the leads.
Howard and Crowe teamed up for 2001’s “A Beautiful Mind”–another major book adaptation–which earned Howard an Oscar. Currently, they’re working on the 1930s boxing epic “Cinderella Man.”
