Bernard R. Wolf spent 60 years in real estate development and made deals when he was well into his 80s. “He closed his office at the age of 89,” said his son David. “He loved going to his office.” Mr. Wolf, 90, of Hazel Crest, died Monday, Jan. 5, of a heart attack in his daughter’s home in Smyrna, Ga.. Born and raised in Chicago, Mr. Wolf attended University of Chicago Law School and graduated in1936. He became involved in real estate development and did not retire until 2002. He was a partner at Gilbert & Wolf, a Chicago-area real estate development firm. Mr. Wolf participated in such developments as housing complexes, shopping centers, high-rise condominiums and apartment buildings, including the Cornell Village high-rise in Hyde Park, Village West housing complex in Hazel Crest and the Flossmoor Commons shopping center. Mr. Wolf married in 1944 and valued family, said his son. Mr. Wolf established an educational trust fund for each of his three children and seven grandchildren to pay for their education. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to be independent and urged them to travel and pursue challenging and rewarding work. Besides his son, survivors include his wife, Jane; another son, Jonathan; a daughter, Deborah; a brother, Arthur; and seven grandchildren. Services were held.
