The Plan Commission is slated to begin next week to consider a proposal for development of one of the village’s last significant parcels of open space.
Town and Country Homes, based in Lombard, is proposing a retail and residential development at Gary Avenue and Lies Road.
The development, which would be called The Fountains at Town Center, calls for 145 luxury townhouses on the north end of the site and three commercial buildings along Lies Road.
The property, which had been the Hartzig Farm, is across the street from the town center.
Don Bastian, village planner, said the village is looking for a development that would enhance and complement the town center.
The size of a federally protected wetlands on the site also must be determined and may affect the proposal for the property.
Town and Country will present preliminary plans to the Plan Commission at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Village Hall, 500 N. Gary Ave.
