I couldn’t disagree more with your editorial about Pete Rose getting in the Baseball Hall of Fame (“Baseball doesn’t need Pete Rose,” Jan. 6).

Why shouldn’t he get in? I am of the same era and he was electric to watch. You always wished the children watching him would get just a small part of his “never give up” attitude. There was a reason they called him “Charlie Hustle.” And all that was a positive. His gambling should be unrelated to his baseball experience. Look at the personal lives of past and present athletes. They gamble, cheat, lie, even commit criminal acts and they are still heroes to the public.

It’s truly unfair that Pete Rose would not be in the hall of history in his field. He just got caught doing what they all do–being human.
