The Pete-Rose-in-the-Hall-of-Fame problem is that (a) there is a gaping hole in baseball history without him, but (b) it is intuitively repugnant to enshrine one who repeatedly violated one of the basic legal and moral rules of baseball, repeatedly lied about it and confessed only in the context of being able to make money from the sale of his book.
The solution is simple: reinstate Pete Rose–but only posthumously.
That way, the record of baseball could eventually be made complete with the inclusion of Rose, the player. But Rose, the cheater and liar, would never have a chance to personally profit from that action.
