Hats off to the Tribune editorial staff for expressing the indignation that the Meg Gorecki story truly deserves (“Gorecki lingers, public loses,” Jan. 6). It is terrible that a county’s top prosecutor, a state’s attorney, lied about a county board member, knowingly and repeatedly lied about the lie, then finally admitted the wrongdoing.
The Tribune rightly calls her “disgraced” and states that she should step down from office. I can’t help but wonder, however, why the Tribune never calls another public official who lied, and lied under oath, a “disgrace.” A public official who held a much higher position of public trust than a state’s attorney. I guess for the Tribune, there’s one rule for Meg Gorecki and another for Bill Clinton.
