Harriet E. Steigerwald, nee Erwin, 86, formerly of Skokie, IL, died Friday, January 9, 2004 in the Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, MN. She married Charles “Stagg” Steigerwald in Chicago in 1945, and together they had two children. Harriet retired from A.H. Robbins Pharmaceuticals in 1980 and moved to Cloquet, MN. Harriet and her husband Charles were founding members of the North Shore Association for Retarded Citizens, one of the first such organizations for the mentally and physically handicapped in the country. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by two sons, Charles “Chuck” Steigerwald of Carlton, MN, and Clarke (Kate) Steigerwald of Springfield, Illinois; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2004, in All Saints Cemetery Chapel in Des Plaines, Illinois.
