Rev. Lester Dacken, 98. A memorial service will be held at Yorkfield Presbyterian Church in Elmhurst (1099 S. York Rd.) at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 17. Rev. Dacken died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, in Tahlequah, OK, where funeral services were held January 1. Born May 28, 1905, in Lone Rock, IA, to Frank and Marie (Helgens) Dacken, he married Gladys Hall and lived in Mt. Vernon, IA. A graduate of Wheaton College (1946) and McCormick Seminary (1949), Rev. Dacken served first as a student and then as pastor at Yorkfield Presbyterian for 30 years until his retirement in 1973 as Pastor Emeritus. In 1976 Rev. Dacken moved to Boyd, OK, where he served for 12 years as a circuit minister for five rural Methodist churches. After the death of his first wife, Dacken married Ruth Hall in 1981 and in 1988 moved to Tahlequah where he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served on the board of directors for Hope House. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Esther Lindgren and husband, Jim; two grandchildren, Sarah Fravel and husband, David, and Rebekah Davis and husband, Mike; and six great-grandchildren, D.J. and Christine Fravel and Rachel, Shannon, Carolyn and Abigail Davis.
