Jeff Horner set the tone with a pair of three-pointers in the first 1 1/2 minutes, finishing with a career-high 23 points for visiting Iowa in an 83-68 victory over Minnesota on Tuesday night.

Four other players scored in double digits for Iowa (9-4, 2-1 Big Ten), including Brody Boyd (15).

“I just appreciate … getting off the mat the way they did after such a disappointing loss,” said coach Steve Alford, who was angered by a lack of veteran leadership following a 77-68 loss to Northwestern on Saturday.

Erik Daniels grabbed a desperation inbounds pass and laid it in as time expired for Wildcats (11-1, 2-0 SEC). Mississippi State (13-1, 2-1) rallied from 16 down to take a 66-65 lead.

SE Missouri St. 84 at Eastern Illinois 64

Derek Winans scored 29 points for Southeast (8-6, 1-2 Ohio Valley), which put game away with an 18-2 run early in 2nd half. Aaron Patterson’s 18 points led Eastern (3-10, 1-2).
