Fred Steigerwaldt, age 84, of Chicago, suddenly, Jan. 14. Beloved husband of the late Dolores, nee Grell; beloved stepfather of Sandra (Dennis) Opiela and the late Warren Schwartz; dear brother of Julia Carroll, Helen Hickey and the late Anne Steigerwaldt, Gladys Hoffman and Lydia Moeller; cherished brother-in-law of Virginia Strauch; stepgrandfather of three; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a proud Army veteran of WWII, Pacific Theater. Funeral Saturday 10 a.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery.
