The Jan. 14 editorial “In mourning for Fannie May” rightfully bemoans the loss of a Chicago institution and world-class chocolate maker, but it fails to even mention the plight of the hundreds of displaced long-time Fannie May employees and the negative impact of their company’s demise on the local economy.

These men and women will truly experience a “long, cold winter” with the loss of a lot more than a delicious treat.
