As if reality television isn’t enough, Jerry Springer–the Godfather of Reality TV–has seen his outrageous daytime antics spun into one of the hottest theater draws in London. And soon, “Jerry Springer–The Opera,” the creation of British producers, will come full circle with its Broadway debut sometime in early 2005.
Think a musical version of Springer’s over-the-top guests could never do justice to the show? Think again.
“The Opera” wraps a God vs. Satan saga around the expected cast of “My Spouse Won’t Satisfy My Warped Fetish” characters, puts it all to song and spices it up with enough questionable language and double entendres to make theaters restrict admission to those over 16. It’s enough to satisfy even the most callused reality TV watcher.
