Nick DeWitz is leaving Iowa to continue his basketball career on the West Coast and Mike Henderson’s season with the Hawkeyes is over.
Both were declared academically ineligible for the second semester on Tuesday.
DeWitz said he will transfer to Oregon State. He said his overall grades, which included junior college, were good enough for him to transfer, but his Iowa grades weren’t high enough for him to continue playing for the Hawkeyes.
DeWitz, a 6-foot-8-inch sophomore, played in eight games for Iowa, averaging 4.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game.
Henderson, a freshman from Waterloo, had played in 10 games, averaging 3.2 points and 1.8 rebounds.
