The city council of San Mateo, Calif., voted unanimously Tuesday in favor of a 45-day emergency ban on karaoke booths, calling the sound-proofed rooms found in clubs a potential haven for prostitution, underage drinking, fights and robberies. Don’t worry–the ban does not affect the one public karaoke room operating in the city.
