On Christmas Eve, I went to Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside to visit the gravesite of my wife, Mary Lou.

As I was praying, a young man came up to me and said, “Merry Christmas and happy new year to you, sir.”

He handed me a stuffed teddy bear and said, “This is for you.”

I said thank you and put it on the wreath on my wife’s grave.

I approached the auto the young man was going into.

I said, “Merry Christmas and happy new year” to the driver.

She said, “We need all the help we can get during the holiday season.”

They did not realize how much this stuffed animal meant to me.

You see, when my wife passed away on July 27, we had forgotten to put her favorite teddy bear in her casket.

The bear the young man gave me looked like the baby of the bear we had forgotten to put in with her. I want to thank the lady and the two young boys with her.

I appreciate their effort and will make a personal donation in their honor to a charity.
