Edward Samson’s Jan. 18 letter, “Big banks,” did not go far enough. He stated that we need to patronize our local independent banks, the ones that serve the community, but we should not limit it to just banks.
We need to patronize our local independent book, video, hardware and grocery stores. When you go to Wal-Mart, Blockbuster or Border’s, you may be saving yourself a few pennies on each purchase, but you may be costing yourself, or your neighbor, or your community, a job. Or even thousands of jobs. And your money goes to the people who are already some of the richest people in the country.
Help yourself and the people around you.
