The Jan. 21 Voice of the people featured letter writers who expressed their repugnancy of the fur industry and their extreme disdain for those reprehensible few who dare choose to purchase and wear furs or fur-trimmed clothing.

These ardent animal lovers also touched upon, again and again, that the poor, unfortunate fur-bearing creatures suffer horrible lives and abominable living conditions and succumb to excruciatingly painful euthanizing methods for the sole purpose of relinquishing their beautiful pelts to a select caste of obvious animal haters.

While I sincerely admire their convictions, I remain skeptical. Do these same individuals include meat in their diet, own or wear leather or use any products that contain ingredients taken from any animal? If so, they are simply hypocrites and their bombastic, holier-than-thou protestations mean about as much to me as the empty promises thrust upon us daily by pontificating politicians running for government office.
