Why is it necessary for students taking a standardized test to indicate their race or ethnicity? How does the State of Illinois use this information? Does it make different programs for students from certain racial or ethnic origin? What does it do with those who qualify for more than one ancestry? I was under the impression that all children enrolled in the public schools in Illinois were treated the same regardless of complexion, language of ancestors or ethnic cultural background.
