Edward M. Soppi, age 69, of Lombard, IL, formerly of Akron, Ohio, passed into eternal life after a courageous four year battle with cancer on Jan. 27, 2004, devoted and loving husband of 40 years to Sharon Soppi, nee Tychewicz; devoted, loving and fond father of Mark (Kim), Lisa (David) Barletta and Joe (Dina); proud and dear Papa to Olivia, David, Danny and Mark; dear brother of Rosemary (John) McCausland of Akron, Ohio, Julie (Wayne) Howard of Port Richey, Florida and Rudy (MaryJane) Soppi of Akron, Ohio. Edward is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marco and Clara, nee Orth, Soppi. Edward has recently retired from Lexington Square Retirement Center, Lombard, IL as Head Chef for 17 years. He was a member of the Dahlia Society Club, Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. Active member with Christ the King Parish in Lombard. Visitation Friday 3 to 9 p.m. at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Rd. (3 blocks S. of Roosevelt Rd.), Lombard.
