If you’re going to fly off to an exotic locale, you’d better learn the language.
Language offerings extend well beyond the Spanish, French and German offered back in high school, so you can brush up on your Swahili before you fly off for that African safari or polish your Portuguese before Carnival in Brazil. Here’s what an intensive language course will run you:
– Berlitz offers a six-week group class (many languages offered) that meets two evenings a week at the Berlitz Language Center, 2 N. LaSalle St. The class costs $990 plus $100 for registration and a minimum of $75 for materials.
– Alliance Francaise de Chicago offers a 10-week intensive French program meeting three days a week at 810 N. Dearborn St. The costs is $1,015 for membership, instruction through four levels and materials.
