I read with interest your story concerning the plight of the three brothers (“The living isn’t easy; 3 brothers who aren’t shy about being up by dawn weren’t able to get 1 of the 1,000 U.S. jobs created last month” (Page 1, Jan. 25)). I felt the article glossed over glaring personal responsibility issues and put the responsibility for the plight of the brothers squarely in the government’s hands. It is not George Bush’s fault that their own mother kicked the brothers out of the house, that they “missed opportunities,” used “poor judgment” and had “a few run-ins with the law.”
Did the brothers study hard in school, keep out of trouble and strive for a better life with more opportunity? I think not.
