Two Wisconsin children were found safely Saturday night and their father was arrested in northwest suburban Wheeling in connection with their abduction, but their mother was still missing, authorities said.
Amanda Larsen, 6, and Holly Larsen, 4, of Wind Lake, Wis., were found in Elmwood Park at a baby-sitter’s house before 10 p.m., said Bob Carlson, sheriff of Racine County, Wis. But authorities said Teri Jendusa-Nicolai (the name as published has been corrected here and in a subsequent reference in this text) , 38, also of Wind Lake, was still missing.
The children’s father, David Larsen, 39, was arrested between 5:30 and 6 p.m., in Wheeling, where he works as an air traffic controller at Palwaukee Municipal Airport, police said. Racine sheriff’s investigators were still interviewing Larsen at Wheeling police headquarters Saturday night, police said.
An Amber Alert was issued earlier in the afternoon after Larsen’s former wife and two children were kidnapped, authorities said. Police said Larsen was seen towing away Jendusa-Nicolai’s car from his Wind Lake home.
