An elevator fire at a Chicago Housing Authority building in the Wrightwood Neighbors area was being investigated as arson Wednesday.

The fire broke out Tuesday at the Lincoln and Sheffield senior housing site, said Chicago Police spokesman Edward Alonzo. A flammable substance was used to start the fire that caused extensive damage to the elevator, he said. Firefighters were able to squelch the blaze with extinguishers, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Dennis Gault.

No one was evacuated, and there were no serious injuries. Bomb and arson investigators are talking to a person of interest.
