The 96th annual Chicago Auto Show, Friday through Feb. 15 in McCormick Place South, features hundreds of U.S. and imported passenger cars and trucks, commercial and recreational vehicles and concept cars, along with auto accessories and related exhibits.

Here’s a guide to help you get to McCormick Place and navigate the exhibits once you’re there:

When: Friday through Feb. 15

Hours: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 15)

Where: McCormick Place South, 23rd Street and Lake Shore Drive

Admission:

Adults $10

Senior citizens $5 (62 and older)

Preteens $5 (free when accompanied by a paying adul

Tuesday: Women’s Day, $5 admission for women.

Wednesday-Friday: Admission is $5 with three cans of food.

BY CAR

From the north: Take the Edens Expressway (I-94) or the Northwest Tollway (I-90) to the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94). Continue south to the Dan Ryan. Stay right and exit at the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) north to King Drive. Take King north to the garage at 23rd Street (Lot A). Or continue to Lake Shore Drive. Exit south to 31st Street or north to 18th Drive.

From the west: Take the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) east to the Dan Ryan. Exit south at the Stevenson. Exit north and continue to King Drive. Take King north to the garage at 23rd Street (Lot A). Or continue north to Lake Shore Drive. Exit south to 31st Street or north to 18th Drive.

From the south: Take the Bishop Ford Freeway (I-94) or Interstate 57 north to the Dan Ryan (I-90/94). Continue north to the Stevenson. Exit north to King Drive. Take King north to the garage at 23rd Street (Lot A). Or continue to Lake Shore Drive. Exit south to 31st Street or north to 18th Drive.

From Indiana: Take the Indiana Toll Road and Chicago Skyway (both I-90) to the Dan Ryan. Continue north to the Stevenson. Exit north to King Drive. Take King north to the garage at 23rd Street (Lot A). Or continue to Lake Shore Drive. Exit south to 31st Street or north to 18th Drive.

BY PUBLIC TRANSIT

– Chicago Transit Authority buses on Routes 3, 21 and 127 serve McCormick Place.

– The CTA runs special buses on Route 127, between McCormick Place and Union Station. They board on Canal Street. The bus then proceeds north to the Ogilvie Transportation Center. The bus to McCormick Place will board on the Washington Street side and return to the Madison Street side. The buses run every six minutes (this sentence as published has been corrected in this text).

– The CTA Red Line elevated train has a stop at Cermak near Clark Street, about five blocks west of McCormick Place. A shuttle from the CTA Orange Line at Halsted Street sponsored by the Chinatown merchants will run from 9:45 a.m. and serve this Red Line station (this sentence as published has been corrected in this text). The shuttle will be free from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Feb. 14 and from noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 15.

– CTA fares are $1.75 for adults and 85 cents for children 7-11 (this sentence as published has been corrected in this text)..

– The Metra Electric line from the south suburbs serves McCormick Place at its 23rd Street Station in the hall. One-way fares range from $1.85 to $4.50.

– Pace will operate an Auto Show Express bus Saturday and Sunday and Feb. 14-15. Round-trip service will run between the Northwest Transportation Center at Martingale Road and Kimberly Drive, just south of Woodfield Shopping Center in Schaumburg, to the King Drive concourse at McCormick Place South. Buses will leave Schaumburg hourly, on the half hour, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Return trips will be on the hour, from noon to 10 p.m. Fares cost $7.50 or are free for children younger than 7 with each paid adult (limit two).

Chicago is their kind of town Manufacturers like to save something special for auto shows, and Chicago’s exhibition is no different. These cars will make their debut at McCormick Place: – Bentley’s Limited Edition Arnage R by Mulliner. – BMW’s 760Li Sport package.

– Buick’s ’05 LaCrosse sedan replacement for Regal and Century.

– Chevrolet’s ’05 Uplander crossover sport van, or CSV replacement for Venture mini van.

– Dodge’s ’05 Dakota pickup truck.

– Ford’s ’05 Montego, new premium midsize sedan (Ford Five Hundred is the companion model at Ford Division) that will be built in Chicago this summer at a plant that now builds the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable.

Five Hundred and Ford Freestyle crossover sport-utility/sedan will be built in Chicago too.

– Hyundai’s Tucson SUV.

– Jaguar’s XK8 concept of a future high-performance AMG-like Jaguar.

– Kia’s KCV IV pickup concept.

– Mazda’s concept Ibuki, a design study for the next Miata.

– Mini’s Commemorative Edition for the 40th anniversary of Mini’s first victory at the Monte Carlo Rally.

– Pontiac’s ’05 Montana SV6 crossover sport van or CSV, a replacement for Montana mini- van. Also, a small update of the Vibe will be on display.

– Subaru’s ’05 Outback sedan and wagon, both of which will be classified trucks for EPA fuel economy and emissions.

– Toyota’s ’05 Tacoma pickup truck and ’05 Solara convertible.
