Edward C. Venkus, of Largo, FL, formerly of Chicago, at rest on Dec. 21, 2003. Catholic services and interment were at Largo on Dec. 30, 2003. Beloved husband of Nina Venkus, Largo; loving brother of sister Ann Nunberg, Chicago; predeceased by first wife, Helen; father of surviving sons Robert of Ellicott City, MD and William of Stockton, CA; and stepfather of Nina’s son, Jerry Walters; Edward is also survived by five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives in Illinois. Born in Chicago, Feb. 10, 1915, Edward lived many years in the Brighton Park area and later on south Tripp. He completed a long, successful career with Crane Co. in 1978, retiring as a senior personnel manager. He led a happy, healthy retired life in Florida until just months before his passing. A Memorial Mass will be conducted in Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, 10:30 a.m. at St. Bede the Venerable, 8200 S. Kostner, to be followed by an invitation reception. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice or for a Memorial Mass in his honor.
