It amazes me that all the fuss about Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake’s “dramatic ending” is totally misdirected. Frankly I don’t find nudity offensive at all, even though the timing was irresponsible. More important is the message telegraphed to young children that it’s OK for a young man to rip the clothing off of a young woman. Any wonder why sex crimes happen?

First our youth are given the green light on oral “it’s-not-sex” in the White House; then comes explaining to a 7-year-old girl why Madonna French kisses Britney Spears on MTV; now it’s live-TV sexual assault?

Our kids can’t be protected from everything this media-soaked world offers up, but the content that is being broadcast and accepted is borderline sociopathic. We must hold those who know better accountable.

Prudishness is foolish, but let’s not lose our perspective on what is truly harmful.
