Offering a menu rich in Latino and other dining favorites, Catholic Charities recently opened a “cafe” aimed at Hispanic seniors in Round Lake.
Now all it needs are some customers.
Since opening two weeks ago at St. Joseph Parish, the 48-seat dining room has been mostly empty, averaging just four people for lunch.
That doesn’t surprise Frank Phillips, director of Senior Community Services for Catholic Charities in Lake County.
“We knew from the beginning it would be slow,” Phillips said. “We just have to be patient.”
Catholic Charities has launched a public relations campaign to advertise the dining room.
From ravioli to enchiladas, the menu has plenty of choices–and all for $3 per meal.
The dining room is in the parish’s Hayes Center at 116 N. Lincoln Ave.
