Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
I read with real interest the story about making your own ice skating rink in your back yard.
It brought back memories of my older brother, Joe, flooding our back yard (on the South Side of Chicago) so that my sister, Sally, and I could learn to skate in the safety of our own back yard.
He went off to the Navy in World War II, but thanks to him, my sister and I were well prepared to go to Brainard Park and skate on the big rink.
Almost the whole football field would be flooded for skating. And it seemed we needed it all for all the people out skating.
Baby Boomers aren’t the only ones who flooded their back yards–long before anyone even heard of Baby Boomers the back-yard ice-skating rinks were in style.
