A homemaker active in her community, Muriel E. Currier volunteered at 4th of July festivities and in the gift shop at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. “You couldn’t keep her down when she could move,” said her daughter Pamela McPherson. Mrs. Currier, 78, died Monday, Feb. 9, in her Arlington Heights home of 45 years. Born in Milwaukee, she grew up in Chicago. She met her husband, Frank, when she was a lifeguard at a country club where he was manager. They married in 1944, a year after she graduated from high school. Mrs. Currier took some classes at a junior college, but otherwise devoted herself to her family and community. She was a Girl Scout troop leader and three-time president of the Arlington Heights Women’s Club, her daughter said. Other survivors include a daughter, Paula Dietz, and three grandsons. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights.
