This is in response to your cover article about Jean Flynn and her death after a long battle with cancer. You noted how her students’ faith “has grown, even as they learned that prayers aren’t always answered.”

Our prayers are always answered. That answer, however, comes in God’s time and, thankfully, in God’s way. It may be a “yes” or a “no” or even a “not now.”

In the case of Ms. Flynn, prayers for her recovery were sorrowfully answered with a “no.” Hard as that may be for those left behind to accept, however, we take comfort in the fact that this is all part of God’s wonderful and perfect plan.
