Irene Rivera, nee Ortega, age 72, passed away on Feb. 12, 2004 at home. She was a longtime resident of Chicago. Loving mother of Frank Vergara, Maria Carbajal, Diane (Antonio) Luna, Esther Rios, Carlos (Linda) Rios and Humberto (Carla) Rios; proud grandmother of many and great-grandmother of 11; fond sister of Angie Novak, Carnation Ortega and Jessie Ortega. Mrs. Rivera was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Felipa Ortega. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Modell Funeral Home, 5725 S. Pulaski, Chicago. Prayers will be said at Modell on Monday at 9:45 a.m., before Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas of Tolentine, 3721 W. 62nd St., Chicago, followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.
