Kudos to the Tribune’s editorial page for recognizing political dirty tricks when you see them (“Bush and the National Guard,” Editorial, Feb. 11). The hypocrisy you so aptly described over President Bush’s National Guard record is nothing more than an early toss in what promises to be a humdinger of a mud fest. The Democrats and Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe (the Clintons’ handpicked smear-meister) took aim first; let’s see how long the other side can stick to the issues before the temptation to retaliate overwhelms integrity.
