Police found a vehicle Tuesday night in Englewood belonging to a man missing since Saturday.
Zubair Ghias’ 2004 Range Rover was recovered in good condition, police said.
“It’s absolutely mysterious, his not being at work and finding the car in a strange area,” said his wife, Jehan Ara Ameen, 26, who is 6 months pregnant.
Ghias, 27, an investment banker, picked up Ameen at O’Hare International Airport on Saturday morning with a car full of flowers.
“He called me a dweeb and said it was for Valentine’s Day,” Ameen said. The two were college sweethearts and have been married for six years.
The couple returned to their apartment Saturday in the 300 block of West Fullerton Parkway. Ghias told Ameen that he would have to go to work at JP Morgan Chase but promised to return to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her, she said.
Ameen, who reported her husband missing Monday, said she grew concerned when he failed to return her phone calls and heard from co-workers that Ghias had not been in the office all weekend.
“Obviously, something bad has happened,” said his mother, Muzhana Ghias. “He was extremely devoted to his wife and family, and I hope he’s OK.”
Ernie Rizzo, a private investigator hired by the family, said Ghias made a $5,000 withdrawal from Harris Bank on 64th Street and Pulaski Road around 11:42 a.m. Saturday.
“Why he was going down to the South Side to pull out money when there are Harris Banks all over is a little strange,” Rizzo said.
There has been no other credit card or debit card activity since his disappearance, Rizzo said.
Family members said they have posted fliers in several city neighborhoods seeking information on Ghias.
